IDM to launch major economic research findings at Invest North

Leading figures from business and politics gathering at the Invest North conference, which takes place online on March 24th, are to hear the findings of a new study from Impact Data Metrics.

The research explores pandemic resilience in the North and future growth projections, including examining the innovation-focused economy and how it is aligned to the UK Government’s Grand Challenges.

The event features a series of prominent and influential thinkers such as the renowned economist Lord Jim O’Neill, who is widely credited as the architect of the Northern Powerhouse, and four Northern metro-mayors – Andy Burnham, Jamie Driscoll, Ben Houchen and Dan Jarvis – who will be discussing their long-term strategies and the future of the devolved North. Former Northern Powerhouse minister and leader of the parliamentary Northern Research Group Jake Berry MP will lead a discussion on the North’s relationship with global markets. He will be joined by John Boehner, the former speaker of the United States House of Representatives, and the UK head of the Confederation of Indian Industry Lakshmi Kaul.

The business leaders include Matt Moulding, the founder of The Hut Group, who will feature in a panel assessing how the North can nurture the next generation of unicorns in a time of economic disruption and technological change, and Manchester United’s chief operating officer Collette Roche, exploring how the North can use its sporting and cultural assets to maximise inward investment. A session on Northern Changemakers will examine how the region sets the agenda on diversity and inclusion, led by Beth Houghton, head of Palatine Private Equity’s Impact Fund.
